Where do I put my P Plates?
The best thing about being on you P’s is driving and the freedom it brings. The worst thing is the actual P-Plates.
If you Put them in the wrong place, have one missing or not perfectly visible, you can get fined and or lose demerit points.
So, what are the rules?
There are 2 things to remember
- You need to display the entire plate – no part of it can be covered
- The plate needs to be whole – no rips or missing parts
Usually The plastic type tend to be the ones that get tucked in the wrong place and fall off, with the magnetic ones you have a few more options.
The plastic plates you get given when you do your driving test, aren’t designed to get shoved between the number plate and the bumper. They are made to sit in a metal frame known as a bracket.
If you don’t have one of these brackets connected to your number plate, you want to get one of the magnetic ones.
You can grab a bracket here.
And yes, they do fall off sometimes, so keep a spare in the glovebox.
